While meditating on the word over the weekend, I had an urge to post on moving forward and leaving behind yesterday. Proverbs 4:25 states, “Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.” We are in a new year, we are given a clean canvas and a new chapter in our lives. I do not know about you, but I am expecting and praying that this year will be greater than last year. Why? Because God is about to DO IT. Faith it!
I was reading the scriptures and Isaiah 43:19 caught my attention. Isaiah 43:19 says, “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” The bible verse spoke to me and I couldn’t shake it off. God says He will do new things in our life and make paths where there is no path. However, for us to receive the new in our lives, God mentioned in verse 18, “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.” Let go of what broke you, who disappointed you, what did not work out, what you did wrong because God said He’s doing new things. And God cannot do new things in your life if you keep looking back. Living in the past keeps you stagnate, stuck and God needs someone who is always on the move and flexible.
Consider the story of Lot in Genesis 19. Before God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, he sent two angels to Lot and his family. They were told to leave, but before leaving they were warned not to look back. However, Lot’s wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt. She was left behind. Don’t let your past, regrets, worries, and fears hold you from achieving what you have been purposed for. Shake off the baggage and walk toward your destiny. The turbulence and trials you went through, made you stronger. There is a bible verse on my room wall and it says, “And not only that, but also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope” in Romans 5:3-4. The trials and suffering you may have experienced are there to build you up.
The more I learn about God and his purpose for my life, the more grateful I become. Because without the trials, I do not think I would see God the way I do now. I have learned to take the positive out of every situation, even when it’s hard. Through the trials, I’ve learned more about my purpose and who God is. And honestly, there’s a blessing in the storm. James 1:2-4 and 12 states, “consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, wherever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Verse 12, “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trials.”
What am saying is through Jesus, God is always with us and He’s has planted our feet in higher places. Because of Him, nothing formed against us shall prosper or separate us from His love. We are victorious and can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.
God is the I AM, the Creator, the Holy One, the King. Trust in Him because the plans He has for you is to prosper you, give you hope and a future, not to harm you. He said He will not leave you nor forsake you. Therefore, shake off the baggage, take his hand, don’t look back. Because He wants to do new things in your life and with him on your side, Greater is Ahead.
This year 2019 is a year of Greater. For the doors that were once shut to open. So, I pray that the Heavenly father will be with you and keep you. He will firmly plant your feet on higher ground. That when everything around you is falling and the ground is shaking, he will hold you tight. To prepare you for what is ahead including successes and changes. And the Holy Spirit who is our best friend, water and food for our spirit will continue to guide you and teach you. And lastly to help you look forward to what is greater ahead. In Jesus name. Amen!
